Mike Stephens takes you on an 8:00 am gravel ride at the Lake Apopka Northshore Restoration project. The ride will start from the Northshore trailhead located 24600 County Road 448-A, Mount Dora FL aka McDonald Canal Boat Ramp Trailhead. This will be a two-segment gravel ride throughout the Lake Apopka Northshore Restoration project, with the first segment going to Clay Island and the Green Mountain Trailhead and Overlook. The first segment will be approximately 16 miles roundtrip to the trailhead. The second segment will go to the historic pumphouse and on to Magnolia Park in Apopka, and return via the wildlife drive in the restoration project. The second segment will be approximately 25 miles roundtrip to the trailhead. Total mileage if you choose to complete both segments will be approximately 40+/- miles. Two short climbs, one over a bridge spanning a small canal, and the other up to the Green Mountain Scenic overlook and trailhead. No drop ride averaging 13-15mph. Lots of gators and birds, with otters and bobcats sometimes mixed in.
